Goodbye is a BBS utility that will create a personalized Goodbye
display file for your users to enjoy when they log off. The
display file will display the callers first name and where they
are from in large ansi graphic characters. The characters will be
displayed one at a time and in random colors. This version is
free and it concludes with a line that mentions my bbs name and
number.
You must do three things to make Goodbye.exe run correctly.
1. Place Goodbye.exe in your BBS directory where Door.sys is
created with the current caller's information.
2. Execute Goodbye with the FILL path AND name of your file that
will be displaye at log off as the first parameter.
Example : Goodbye D:\Display\Goodbye.bbs
Hint: I have my Goodbye screen named .BBS to show to all my
callers. Any .CLR or .ANS Goodbye files will have to be
removed if all callers are to see their personalized log-off
display.
3. Execute Goodbye WHILE your current caller in on line. Usually
a bbs has "Logon.bat" or some other batch option that will
automatically run a batch file when the user first logs on.
This program will not work properly on a multi node bbs that
shares the same display area for all nodes. If Joe logs on after
Bob then when Bob logs off he will see Joe's name and city in his
Goodbye display.
Only a single Goodbye.BBS file is created but it is in ansi color
graphics that will be shown to all callers. Usually the Sysop
cannot see the display on his/her screen. It will appear with
the ansi control characters.
